Based in Paris (with travel on an as needed basis), this position will form part of the Olympics Legal team reporting into the Vice President Legal, Eurosport. The role will support all aspects associated with exploiting the Olympics broadcast rights, in particular as they relate to the PyeongChang Winter Olympics 2018, for example sub-licensing, operational agreements, logistics agreements, liaison with POCOG and the IOC, liaison with South Korean counsel, all in close collaboration with specialist lawyers within the EMEA Legal team where appropriate.
Fixed term contract : 6 months (ASAP)
Drafting and negotiating sub-licences with broadcasters in Europe.
Drafting, negotiating and advising on all operational, logistics, production related, technical and other agreements relating to the broadcast of the Winter Olympics on channels within the Discovery portfolio;
Close liaison with Korean counsel on all local Korean matters including employment, health & safety and general compliance;
Corporate compliance including oversight of company secretarial duties;
All other matters relating to the Olympics project as required.
Technically very proficient lawyer – needs to have excellent understanding of contract law principles and excellent drafting skills. Must be UK or French qualified lawyer - excellent academics; training and experience at top private practice an advantage.
Negotiation skills must be proven – to deliver both proper legal protection to the company and excellent commercial results.

Clear and concise communicator (both orally and written) – ability to present and distil legally complex issues into legally compliant but practical and commercial solutions, in a way that engages the key stakeholders.
Well organised and attention to detail: this role requires focus and energy to ensure that nothing falls between the cracks.
Must be fluent in English.
Experience in a sports broadcast/media company would be a key advantage.
Good commercial common sense essential – must have a deep understanding of the impact that deals potentially have on the business.
Extremely professional: calm under pressure, clear thinking, well organised, proactive and grasps concepts quickly.
Will be a key provider of day to day support to VP so must be a good team player, and have flexible, hands on approach.
Emotionally intelligent outlook – must have the ability to diffuse and calm others.
