Job Description

In order to support the Football Technology Innovation Department within the Technical Development Division, FIFA is seeking a forward-thinking and analytical      

Junior Football Research & Data Manager      

You will help the Football Technology Innovation team drive the Electronic Performance and Tracking Systems (EPTS) programme forward. This new project at FIFA encompasses managing the creation of a global data hub for player and team performance data, accompanying research institutes in the area of data validation and standardisation as well as regular interaction with the industry of wearables and tracking systems.      

Your Duties

  • Managing the development of a global data hub for player and team performance in close collaboration with internal and external developers and service providers
  • Monitoring research in the area of performance data validation and supporting the FIFA Quality Programme Team with the development and implementation of global standards for the football industry relating to tracking and player performance data
  • Close cooperation with FIFA’s Coaching & Player Development and TV Services departments for the elaboration of tracking data solutions and standards to be used at FIFA tournaments
  • First point of contact for innovations in the area of wearable technologies and data for the FIFA Football Technology Innovation team
  • Supporting the Football Technology Innovation Department in other research projects as appropriate      

Our Requirements    

  • Master’s Degree in sports science, computer science, sports engineering, statistics or similar background
  • A minimum of 1-2 years’ experience with data mining, data processing and data analytics in sport; practical experience in football is a plus
  • Able to understand various data structures for positional tracking data (GPS, LPS or optical tracking) and physiological metrics (MEMs, HR, etc.) as well as common methods in data transformation. Experience in developing or analysing data from wearable or tracking technology a plus
  • Fluent in spoken and written business English; knowledge of other languages is a plus
  • Innovative, data- and service-oriented and pro-active team player who thinks outside of the box Good football knowledge
