The core role of the Marketing Division is to optimise revenues for the short and long-term benefit of European football. This is achieved by creating value in every activity undertaken. The marketing, promotion and brand management of UEFA's competitions play an instrumental role in this value creation.

Reporting to the Senior Marketing Activities Manager within the Marketing Division, the Promotions Manager owns and delivers strategic campaigns and promotions from briefing to delivery and contributes to brand strategy development and deployment for various UEFA competitions, including the UEFA Champions League and UEFA European Football Championship (EURO).


  • Leading the development of integrated strategic communication and promotional plans that are appropriate to the level of the competition and increase reach, engagement and monetisation opportunities on a global level;
  • Ensuring that the plans are in line with UEFA's overall marketing strategy and based on insights into consumers/fans (targeting), (localised) markets, trends, best practice and the relevant competition;
  • Ensuring that the plans show a clear return on investment based on challenging, well-defined KPIs and demonstrate a full understanding of the digital world and a digital-first approach without ignoring other promotional tools;
  • Leading the implementation of promotional plans across the relevant competitions, in collaboration with various UEFA divisions (Communications, Operations, etc.);
  • Managing the implementation of promotional activities, with the support of the Promotions Coordinator;
  • Championing the plans both within and outside the organisation, ensuring full awareness and buy-in from all relevant stakeholders (other UEFA divisions, partners, clubs, national associations, etc.);
  • Managing a wide-range of agencies, ensuring plans are delivered to the highest level and make optimum use of resources;
  • Focusing on key projects, including UEFA EURO 2020 as well as the UEFA Nations League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Champions League (with a specific focus on Asia);
  • Ensuring promotional plans cater for commercial partners and, where relevant, amplifying existing events and activities supported by commercial partners such as trophy tours, fan festivals etc.;
  • Identifying synergies between the promotional plans of UEFA and its commercial partners (broadcasters, sponsors, licensees);
  • Ensuring every activity is in line with the CRM strategy and contributes to UEFA's wider CRM goals;
  • Measuring, analysing and reporting on the success of the promotional plans;
  • Creating meaningful metrics in collaboration with the research team to define success and the 'so what' factor (i.e. increasing fan engagement resulting in fan-data generation, with the ultimate goal of creating a sound basis for monetisation);
  • Ensuring research and insights are incorporated to form the strategic direction of campaigns and are leveraged to obtain results and analysed learning;
  • Developing clear and measurable KPIs for key activities based on marketing and branding plans, and sharing results using a user-friendly format;
  • Reporting key successes in a user-friendly manner that is relevant for the context, including for senior management;
  • Managing the different stakeholders and a large budget.


Experience required:

  • From 4 to 6 years developing and implementing promotional plans with quantifiable results (e.g. as a marketing communications manager in the FMCG, entertainment or sports industries)
  • From 4 to 6 years managing 360 campaigns and promotions from strategy to brief, to delivery, to lessons learned and demonstrating solid digital credentials
  • From 4 to 6 years in CRM and using fan data to drive engagement and partner activation
  • From 4 to 6 years managing agencies, stakeholders and budgets
