The French Translator is responsible for providing translations from English and German into French that meet the quality requirements of UEFA's various divisions, in accordance with UEFA's corporate image and by the given deadlines.


  • Translating UEFA texts from English and German into French;
  • Editing existing texts in French;
  • Proofreading French texts;
  • Maintaining the English-French and German-French translation memories;
  • Providing ad hoc linguistic support to internal clients;
  • Participating in projects aimed at promoting consistency in terminology throughout UEFA (such as the UEFA-Langenscheidt dictionary for EURO 2008);
  • Coordinating the assignments for the French section with the other French translators, including liaising with external translators;
  • Ensuring consistency within official French texts, including by participating in the compilation of UEFA's French style guide;
  • Aligning pairs of documents to produce translation memory segments to be imported into the memories;
  • Acquiring a good knowledge of UEFA's activities, to ensure better quality translations;
  • Using internal tools (FAME, EBO, SAP, etc.) when required;
  • Managing contact with internal clients.


Experience required:

  • Experience as an in-house or freelance translator working from English and German into French
  • Experience of editing and proofreading


  • MA in translation or equivalent


  • English / Proficient
  • French / Native speaker
  • German / Proficient

Additional requirements:

  • MS Excel / Intermediate
  • MS PowerPoint / Advanced
  • MS Word / Proficient
  • SAP / Basic
  • Knowledge of computer-assisted translation tools (in particular SDL TRADOS)
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Outlook
