Job Description

FIFA competitions are at the pinnacle of world football, bringing together the best footballers from across the globe to compete on the world stage. They are also one of the key drivers for football development in the 211 FIFA member associations.

In the fast-growing environment of women’s football, it is necessary to bring new focus, fresh ideas and a strong strategic approach to FIFA competitions. To do this, FIFA is looking for a suitably qualified:

Head of Competitions Women's Football Division

Your duties:

  • Managing the strategic direction of the FIFA women’s football competitions linked to the women’s football strategy (including review and analysis of existing competitions and research and proposals for new competitions)
  • Administering, managing and implementing the women’s international match calendar linked closely to the women’s football professionalisation project in close consultation with the confederations and other stakeholders  - Working closely with the Head of Women’s Football Development on the development and improvement of domestic leagues and competitions in collaboration with the FIFA member associations
  • Working with the regional confederations on the qualifying pathways for FIFA final tournaments
  • Working closely with the FIFA Commercial Division to ensure all FIFA women’s competitions are commercially optimised
  • Responsibility for clearly defining the women’s football competition requirements for host countries of FIFA tournaments
  • Oversight and involvement from the women’s football perspective in the bidding process for FIFA women’s competitions in close collaboration with the Competitions & Events Division
  • Supporting the Chief Officer for Women’s Football on the design and implementation of any new projects for the Women’s Football Division
  • Developing and implementing the collation of data and research on the global women’s football competition landscape

Our requirements:

  • Master’s degree within the field of sports or humanities
  • General awareness of the international football business and an existing network within international men’s and women’s football
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in project management and strategic development Experience managing projects to drive gender equality within the world of football and ability to manage a team
  • Very good language skills in English (minimum C1 level is a must), other languages (German, French, Spanish) a plus
  • Communicative and service-oriented personality with intercultural competences
